Centenary Celebration Event

With the kind support of the Community Fund, the Churchyard Mananagement Group is proud to announce details of our World War One Centenary Celebration event.

The event will run from Saturday 2nd August until Monday 4th August 2014

The event will be held mainly in the Walker Parish Church Hall and the adjacent Garden of Remembrance


Saturday 2nd August - from 10.30am to 4pm

Sunday 3rd August - from 11.30am to 4pm

Monday 4th August from 10.30am to 4pm

We will have a huge amount of information and pictures on display - on  nine 8'x4' display units, along with CWGC certificates (hundreds of them) and stories like 'The Church Street Boys', 'Families at War'. All information will be 'Walker' related.

A Centenary Oak Tree will be planted in the Garden of Remembrance, and posies will be laid on each of the WW1 headstones in the churchyard.

The event will close on the Monday with a short religious memorial service along the lines of  a Remembrance Day Service.
